Every kid expects everything on his or her birthday – great and numerous gifts, balloons, ice cream, and of course, lavish and delicious birthday cake.
If you want to make your child shout for joy when he or she finally sees the birthday cake you’ll be making, skip the traditional, boring round or rectangle cake pans. Bake a cake using fun character cake pans that your child will surely love.
Not so sure what your kid likes? Spend just a few minutes with him or her watching television and you will definitely find out. For girls, they usually adore Dora the Explorer, Disney Princesses like Ariel of Little Mermaid, Jasmine of Aladdin, Cinderella or Snow White. It could also be Barbie, Care Bears or Strawberry Shortcake. Boys are usually head over heels with Thomas the Train, Bob the Builder, Lightning McQueen of Cars, Barney, Batman or Superman.
Once you’ve found out what character your child’s into the moment, search for it online or at your local bake ware store. Other character shaped pans are designed in such a way that only the character’s face included while others include the whole body of the character.

Decorating cakes that have been made with character shaped pans are a breeze. Use a lot of colors and if possible, copy everything about the specific character that you choose. Make sure Barney is purple, Superman’s cape is red and Blue of Blue’s Clues is, well, blue. Remember that details count in decorating character cakes or your child might not fully appreciate made you’ve made.
